Soxtherm
Automatic rapid extraction systems
Controlling up to 4 units
For many years, Gerhardt has been a successful manufacturer of the automated rapid Soxhlet systems Soxtherm. Thanks to the close relationship with our customers and partners worldwide, this highly successful instrument has been improved further.
Depending on the size of the laboratory and the sample throughput, the customer now has the option of a 2, 4, or 6 place system. The controller, Multistat, can control and monitor up to 4 units individually. The savings in costs and space are tremendous. The fully automated process ensures highest precision for minimum input.
The solid-liquid extraction according to Soxhlet and Twisselmann can be done much more efficiently by using these systems. Thus, the Soxtherm simplifies and accelerates the traditional Soxhlet method in key areas. The extraction has up to five programmable stages. The patented process is fully automatic and is especially useful for the determination of fat and for residue analysis.

- Explosives in residual waste
- Coatings of fertilizers
- PAH - Poly aromatic hydrocarbons
PC-Software for Rapid extraction
You can individually control and monitor up to 4 Soxtherm extraction units type S4 using a PC. All functions, which are already well known from the controller Multistat, are integrated into the program. Furthermore, multiple documentation - and logging options, like e.g. the sample name, program and recognition of the user are offered as well.
With the introduction of the Soxtherm-Manager, Gerhardt now offers an efficient software, which meets all the demands of a modern laboratory management.
- Control of up to 4 Soxtherm basic units
- Monitoring of the Soxtherm basic units
- Programming and storage of the extraction programs
- Logging and documentation of all relevant data
- Diagnosis function for an ideal extraction process
- Concise arrangement of all relevant status displays in separate windows facilitates the best possible supervision
- Clearly structured program windows
- Each Soxtherm unit has a program window and a status window. At any given time, the user has a perfect overview of all functions andprograms in use. Up to 4 Soxtherm units are displayed at one screen.

Fibretherm - Crude fibre / ADF / NDF
Automated Crude Fibre Determination
Based on the established Gerhardt FibreBag Method, the new Fibretherm offers the fully automated processing of the tedious boiling and filtration steps for the crude fibre-, ADF- and NDF-determination. Fibretherm has many advantages compared to the standard method. Up to 12 samples can be digested and filtrated simultaneously, which saves precious bench space as well as chemicals. The savings are especially significantfor labs with a high sample throughput. The procedure with controlled boiling steps as well as the unique, highly precise filtration mesh of the FibreBags ensure highly precise results. The entire process takes place in a closed system.

FibreBag-Method
Up to 12 samples are each weighted into a Fibre Bag. Just like in the traditional method, the required boiling times and filtration steps are done for all samples simultaneously. When determining the crude fibre content, the non soluble contents as sulfuric acid and caustic potash solution remain in the Fibre Bag. The residue is dried, weighted and then incincerated. The difference between the ash content and the non-diluted residue in relation to the initial sample weight, is the crude fibre content. When doing an ADF- and NDF-determination, the sample is treated with the respective detergents, the remaining substances of the cell structure are specified and determined according to this method as well. Also the calculation is done identically to the crude fibre determination.Since all analyses are conventional methods, it is very important to observe the respective times for the boiling procedures as well as observing the weighing procedures as exactly as possible.
Save time:
- Simultaneous analysis of up to 12 samples
- Quick and safe filtration
- Short heating up time
Ergonomic features:
- Small footprint - saves bench space
- Easy cleaning
- Safe operation
- Storage of up to 10 methods
- Use of inert materials - prevents corrosion
Reduce the costs:
- Automation of procedure
- Saves chemicals thus saves as well the costs forwaste disposal
- Monitors cooling water and energy
Optimizes the quality of the analysis:
- Automated reproducible conditions of analysis
- Constant filtration quality of FibreBags
- Low blank values due to almost complete incineration

FibreBag®/crude fibre /Hydrolysis
FibreBag Systems for crude fibre-, ADF- and NDF-determination
acc. to LEPPER, VAN SOEST, WEENDER a.o.
The introduction of the revolutionary FibreBag System by Gerhardt means that the tedious and time-consuming stages usually associated with this determination process like e.g. Weender, van Soest and others, can be reduced to a minimum. Space as well as the consumption of energy and chemicals is reduced to a sixth of the traditional methods. At the same time the conformity to the methods is maintained.Gerhardt offers 3 systems for a special package price. For low sample throughput we recommend the basic pack for up to 6 samples simultaneously. For high sample throughput we recommend the 24-place or the 36-place system, with serial heating plates. All system components can also be ordered individually
